For this assessment, you will need to choose a media report on a piece of research from a list posted on Blackboard, and write a short paper analysing the production of the knowledge being reported on, contextualise this research within the wider scholarly field, and speak to the ways in which this research has been produced and communicated.  A pro-forma for this assessment will be made available on Blackboard for you to download and use.
English language conventions will not be assessed for this assignment.  You may write informally, use dot points where appropriate, or other strategies.  However your writing must be clear and provide enough information for teaching staff to understand your meaning.              
Assessment Criteria
Your work will be assessed on the extent to which you:

• Accurately source the original research article, and other relevant pieces of research
• Accurately identify key elements of the original research article, including research question, literature review, method and analysis
• Critically evaluate the claims being made by the media article
• Situate the research and your critique within the wider scholarly field
• Reference your work in accordance with the academic convention of your own discipline
